I bought the Yosemite journal, and I absolutely love it. The leather is sublime, the tool work subtle and, though new, the journal has a patina of "time" about it. It is bigger and heavier in the hand (or on your back) than I expected, but that was probably predictable based on the paper size. This isn't really a backpacking journal; it would be at home on a desk, nightstand, or in the car. And it feels great in your hands. That's not a flaw though. The flaw I mentioned in the title is the pen(cil) loop. A pencil is supplied with the journal, and it fits the loop just fine. But I personally cannot stand pencils; I much prefer a quality pen. But even the skinniest of my pens will not fit in the pen(cil) loop. In fairness, if your pen has a clip, it can be clipped to the loop and hang on the outside. Slightly kludgy, but functional. I plan to ask Tactile if they can custom-make me a journal with an enlarged loop. That would be perfect. That flaw is a small thing in an otherwise gorgeous piece.
